Welcome to Works in Progress!

Well, we did it again.  The latest project underway in the Asylum shop is a 1971 Police model Moto Guzzi Ambassador, which was purchased from a junk yard about 10 years ago as a parts bike.  Again, we did not think to take photos from the beginning of the project, so I'll start where we are now:

The frame and most other frame parts have been powder coated.  We had to farm out the frame, but all other powder coating was done in house using the simple kit available from Eastwood.  Works very well. The motor ran well, once we got the spider nests out of the fuel lines, so has been left internally untouched.  We'll see how it runs out when we get it on the road.

LOTS of polishing to bring the aluminum back.  The wheels were disassembled and the rims and hubs cleaned and polished.  This bike was a MESS!  Kay was the designated polisher, so she can attest to the work involved here!

Every part on the bike was sandblasted and either plated or powder coated.

It's actually starting to look like a motorcycle again, and the new pipes, seat and other finishing touches are on order.

Final note on the previous project, the P-11 Norton:  Ran it all summer, with only a few minor problems.  The steering is still not as smooth as I would like, but considering the technology involved in a Matchless front end, perhaps that's as good as it gets.
